Services
Established in 2015 Hall Baird Solicitors brings together the legal expertise of David Hall and Karen Baird, both have well earned reputations for delivering first class legal services.
This dynamic partnership came from a shared vision, drive and passion to deliver excellent personal and business legal services to those living in rural communities and to dispel the myth that you must live in or go to the 'big city' to access legal expertise.
David and Karen believe that having a good client relationship is fundamentally important.
David is a Member of The Law Society of Scotland Rural Affairs sub-Committee, Member of Agricultural Law Association, Member of South West Agricultural Valuers Association, Member of Compulsory Purchase Association, Member of RSFS (Royal Scottish Forestry Society).
David is a farmer's son, but with two older brothers in the family business he decided to forge a different career path.
He first obtained a degree from Stirling University in Financial Studies & Business Law which included accountancy and economics.
Member of - SWAVA (South West Agricultural Valuers Association); ALA (Agricultural Law Association).
Karen originally hails from Farnham, Surrey but with family ties to Scotland and happy holidays memories of Dumfries & Galloway she chose to move to the area to complete her secondary education and then went on to study Law at Edinburgh University.
Law and agriculture can both be perceived as male dominated areas however, Karen, feels challenged to change that perception.
She believes honesty, trust and a good relationship with her clients is paramount and aims to make the process as user friendly as possible, providing the guidance necessary for clients to make the best decisions within the context of their own lives.
Planning for an individual or for any business is not always straightforward and at Hall Baird we recognise that there is no 'one size fits all' way.
With this in mind we provide advice tailored to your circumstances, your business and dovetail it with appropriate taxation advice.
Succession planning applies to both businesses and individuals, and when undertaking this we would always recommend a review of your own personal Will and Powers of Attorney.
No matter who you are, you should have a Will to ensure the people you want to inherit your belongings & assets do.
We, at Hall Baird, are experienced in buying and selling farms and land throughout Scotland.
We have contact with a wide range of professionals who can provide additional services as part of this process.
Whether purchasing or selling a farm or land the process is similar to other transactions.
However, there may be additional considerations as you may be purchasing or selling a farm business which includes machinery, livestock, goodwill and an entitlement to receive subsidies.
Here at Hall Baird we offer the specialist expertise in agricultural law required by our clients.
