A spouse visa or a civil partnership visa is a permit that allows married or civil partners to come into the UK on the basis of their marriage and/or partnership with a settled person in the UK.
A settled person in the UK is a person with no immigration restrictions in the UK eg a British national, an EEA national (under the EEA free movement treaty) and any other individual with an indefinite leave to remain.
Legally married spouses and civil partners are treated the same under the UK immigration law.
The Tier 1 Investor visa enables wealthy applicants to apply to come to, or remain in, the UK on the basis that they intend to invest at least 2m in UK companies or UK Government bonds.
The funds may be held in either an overseas bank or a bank in the UK and they may be held in either foreign currency or in pounds sterling, but the applicants must open a UK bank account before the application can be submitted.
Entry Clearance Officers and UK Visas & Immigration caseworkers are being empowered to refuse a Tier 1 (Investor) application if they have reasonable grounds to believe that the applicant is not in control of the investment funds or the funds were obtained unlawfully (or by means which would be unlawful if they happened in the UK) or the character, conduct or associations of a party providing the funds mean that approving the application is not in the public interest.
Tier 2 Visa (General) route is for migrants who have been offered a place to work in the UK and are being sponsored by UKVI authorised employers.
It is the main immigration route for the skilled workers to be employed in the UK.
You can apply for a Tier 2 Visa (General) if you are outside of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Switzerland and have been offered a skilled job in the UK from a UK employer with a valid Tier 2 sponsorship licence.
Your proposed employer must be a UK based entity which holds a UKVI sponsorship licence.
Visitors who are coming for tourist purposes or to see family in the Uk will often need to apply for a UK visit visa, or "entry clearance", before travelling to the UK.
The visitor visa is the most popular route for individuals to come to the UK for tourism, business, medical treatment or to visit a family.
We have observed however, that the success rate of visit visas is very low when the applicants choose to make the application on their own without the help from the immigration lawyer.
Sad still, once the visit visa is refused there is neither right of appeal nor there is an administrative review right, so the applicant has no choice but to make a fresh application which also has a high probability of refusal if the applicant does not go through the refusal letter thoroughly and address all the points raised by the Entry Clearance Officer.
In most visa categories, you will need to have been resident in the UK for 5 continuous years before being able to apply for ILR (indefinite leave to remain).
5 years for the following categories: Tier 1 (General), Tier 1 (Entrepreneur), Tier 1 (Investor), Tier 2, Innovator, Business Person, Investor, Writer, Composer, Artist, Ancestry Visa, Representative of Overseas Business, Representative of an Overseas Newspaper, Oversees Govt.
Employees, Domestic workers, Private servants in Diplomatic households, Minister of Religion, Airport based operation ground staff of overseas owned Airlines, Retired Person of Independent means, Refugee, Humanitarian Protection, Spouses of persons present and settled in the UK, Unmarried partners of persons present and settled in the UK, Persons having right of access to their child, EEA nationals and their family members.
