Gillhams Solicitors The best legal support isn't delivered by lawyers. It's delivered by lawyers who are real people. At Gillhams you'll find experts who engage with you, who understand what you're going through and who care. People who have lives of their own and who enjoy making yours a little easier. Unraveling problems, creating solutions. We have our own way of doing this.

It's founded on two fundamentals: we care about the service we deliver, and we never lose sight of the relationships and integrity that drive us as lawyers. A realistic outlook is as much about positives as negatives. Sound refreshing? It's the way we see things at Gillhams. We don't deal in clients' false hopes and we never underplay a strong argument.

We prefer to tell it as it is- the good, the bad and the risky- with sensitivity, empathy and unwavering support. I found the speed, intelligence and focussed attention with which you handled my case outstanding. I particularly liked the way you immediately phoned me, which inspired confidence and credibility.

We're now a team of modern-day lawyers advising businesses and individuals. Some of our people have been here since the firm was re-launched by long-time friends and colleagues Russell Caller and Anthony Krikler in 1996. Others are more recent recruits who saw what we do and wanted to be a part of it. Clients are based all over the UK and internationally. Some deal with us by phone, email, video conferencing, Skype.

These are the things that clients tell us are refreshing about working with Gillhams. What does this mean in practice? It means that we value our clients and we show them, in everything we do, that we value them. We passionately believe that every client who instructs us is an individual who deserves to be listened to, understood, and advised thoroughly, genuinely, properly.

We will discuss with you what you hope to achieve and agree with you in writing what would be a realistic result. We will only charge what we have agreed with you in writing in advance. If we cannot fix a fee, we will agree the basis of our charges with you and give you an idea of the total cost. If any unforeseen additional work becomes necessary (for example, due to unexpected difficulties or if your requirements or the circumstances significantly change during the course of the matter) we will inform you of its estimated cost in writing before any extra charges and expenses are incurred.

It's a best practice framework designed specifically for law firms and helps ensure that legal practices deliver excellent client care and a consistently high quality of service. Law firms with Lexcel accreditation have demonstrated their commitment to client care and are allowed to display the Lexcel logo on their letterhead and promotional literature. One of the key features of Lexcel accredited law practices is a focus on client care and customer service.

That's why we make it our job to get to the heart of things quickly, design a way through and get the outcome that's best for our client. No delay, no jargon. Leasehold Enfranchisement - the legal right given to a leaseholder to extend a lease or buy the freehold or a share of it (collective enfranchisement) can involve all parties concerned in a complicated and time-consuming process. But if you're a leaseholder it's an investment worth making and, if you're a freeholder, worth agreeing to. And that's where our property solicitors can make a real difference. As specialists in Leasehold Enfranchisement our team has the knowledge and experience to lead you through all the legal requirements that govern this process - from determining eligibility, to guiding you through the process for calculating the best possible premium, to advising on costs and obligations.

What really helps clients sleep a little easier is their trust in our expertise and confidence that we'll get the right result for them. We'll only use this information to handle your enquiry and we won't share it with any third parties.

By applying to and representing clients at the Court of Protection - the court dedicated to people who are mentally incapable - our team works towards getting the right financial, property and health and welfare provisions in place. We advise clients on the options and guide them through the process. We're calm and we're thorough. We're recognised for what we do, too.

But when it comes to planning for future mental incapacity, Gillhams' lawyers make a rather daunting process easier to navigate. We have a team dedicated to putting in place Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs). These are legal documents which appoint a person (an "attorney") to look after the welfare, money or property of someone who can no longer do this for themselves. Our Power of Attorney lawyers deal with all types of issues, from the most complex arrangements to more straightforward instructions.
