Mitchells Solicitors
Mitchells was founded in 1936 by George F Mitchell. He was succeeded by his son, Geoffrey Mitchell, who entered the firm in 1949 and retired in the early 1990's. The firm is now headed by Philip Chapman. Our lawyers specialise in their own individual areas of the law, so that we can offer you an extensive experience and specialised knowledge whatever your legal requirements.

We appreciate that consulting with Lawyers can be difficult, particularly when you are faced with a relationship breakdown or the death of a loved one. Our friendly and approachable staff will soon put you at your ease. We pride ourselves on building a strong relationship of trust and confidence with our clients. Many of our clients have been recommended to us.

If not and if you are a relative or a dependant of the Deceased you may be entitled to make a claim.
Although in England and Wales a person can leave his Estate to whomever he chooses this is subject to the right to claim reasonable financial provision under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
In these situations where the Will is found to be invalid the Estate will pass under the terms of any pre-existing Will.
If there is no earlier Will then the intestacy rules will apply.
To make plans to protect the interests of yourself and your family both during your lifetime and after your death, you should make a Lasting Power of Attorney.
This will give your relative or friend power to manage your affairs or make decisions during your lifetime if you become unable to look after them yourself through mental or physical incapacity.
You can then be assured that the person or persons you trust will be in charge if and when that happens.
You should also make a Will.
This will appoint executors to look after your property after your death and name who will inherit it.
Mitchells Solicitors can provide advice to employers and employees on all aspects of Employment Law.
