Services
Tracey has a national reputation in the area of child abuse litigation and has appeared on TV, radio and in the national press.
She has successfully brought claims on behalf of survivors of sexual abuse or violence at the hands of priests, teachers, sports coaches, medical practitioners, foster carers, youth workers and scout leaders, pursuing religious institutions, schools, the NHS, the Scouts Association, or perpetrators in person.
She has had some notable successes in pursuing claims on behalf of victims of image based sexual abuse.
Emmott Snell have helped many survivors of abuse win compensation claims before tribunals and courts.
Below are examples from our case files.
Mr B, whose family were parishioners, attended regular Sunday services with his parents at a rural Church of England church.
As an adolescent he was abused by an organist and choir master.
In his forties Mr B felt strong enough to report the abuse to the police.
His perpetrator was charged but was declared unfit to stand trial after one appearance at the magistrates' court.
Whilst we aim to provide you with the highest level of legal representation we also recognise the need for appropriate professional and informal support.
As part of our holistic approach we will encourage you to seek help from both local and national support groups, who have a specialist expertise in supporting survivors of sexual abuse and neglect.
As we have contact with many of these organisations, we can make initial contact with them on your behalf if you wish.
The Stop Church Child Abuse campaign is an alliance of clergy sexual abuse survivors, charities that support survivors, specialist lawyers and interested individuals working in the field of child safeguarding.
Emmott Snell have extensive experience in helping abuse victims to achieve successful personal injury claims.
When you first contact us we will ask you to tell us what happened to you, who was involved, and when and where your abuse occurred.
We will then assess your options and advise you on the best way forward.
We will also advise you on how your case can be funded, and set up the best form of funding for you.
Your claim may fall into two categories.
We may be able to help you pursue compensation through the courts, by suing your abuser or their employer or responsible body.
The purpose of civil claims is to recognise a wrong by awarding 'damages', or compensation.
It aims to put you (the claimant) back into the financial position you would have been in had you not been wronged or harmed, in so far as it is reasonably possible.
You may have options as to who you can claim compensation from (the defendant).
You can bring a legal action against the person who abused you, or their employer, or the organisation for which they were working at the time.
Most employers and organisations have insurance which means that if you are successful, compensation will be paid by their insurance company.
