CP Law is a team of personal lawyers and commercial business solicitors with over 30 years of top legal experience, with offices and solicitors in Wokingham and Sunningdale. Whether you need a conveyancing solicitor, business law advice in Wokingham, or a family lawyer in Berkshire or a family lawyer in Wokingham, CP Law would be delighted to assist you.

We take pride in servicing our clients utilising a prompt and effective process. I have recently visited CP Law, accompanying a friend to action and register Powers of Attorney documentation and a new Will. Free Parking was available on site where the office is located in Wokingham. The office - the staff, reception area and private meeting rooms are all very welcoming and fit for purpose.

All paperwork dealt with very professionally, every document gone through meticulously to ensure all was correct. All was achieved with the solicitor, Mr Shamit Rooproy and his assistant Polly, who worked with efficiency, clarity and calm - at no point was there any sense of tension or being rushed through the volume of paperwork requiring attention.

A Will is a legal document that sets out how your assets are to be dealt with on your death.
Having a valid Will is the only way to ensure that your assets will be distributed in the manner of your choosing.
If you die without a Will then your estate will be dealt with under the Intestacy Rules and this could mean that people that are important to you are not provided for in the way you might have wanted.
At CP Law Solicitors only a qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive will prepare your Will and this means that you can feel safe in their hands.
You can make an entirely new Will, revoking the old one and replacing it with the new one.
You can make a Codicil.
This is a short document that makes a small number of specific changes to the Will (perhaps increase the value of a gift or replace an executor).
This does not revoke the existing Will and only alters those sections specifically referred to.
Deed of Variation.
This can be made within 2 years of death and any gift or sum passing to a Beneficiary (whether under the Will or by the intestacy rules) can be varied in favour of somebody else.
Currently the first 325,000 (the 'nil rate band') of assets passing to your beneficiaries will be free of tax and the balance will be liable to inheritance tax at 40%.
However, anything passing to your spouse, civil partner or charity will be completely free of inheritance tax, subject to certain criteria.
If you leave 10% or more of your chargeable estate to charity then the remainder will be charged at a reduced rate of 36%.
There are further concessions for business and agricultural property, which could also be free of inheritance tax.
