It is estimated that 2 million adults experience domestic abuse each year in England and Wales.
Any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.
Controlling behaviour is: a range of acts designed to make a person subordinate and/or dependent by isolating them from sources of support, exploiting their resources and capacities for personal gain, depriving them of the means needed for independence, resistance and escape and regulating their everyday behaviour.

A Lasting Power of Attorney is a document which lasts in your lifetime.
It gives another individual the legal authority to look after specific aspects of your financial affairs or your health and welfare when you are not in a position to do so, for instance should you lose capacity.
Lasting Powers of Attorney are not just for the elderly as mental and physical incapacity can hit at any time and we recommend planning ahead to ease the potential burden on loved ones.
Lasting Power of Attorney forms need to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) to be effective and without proper legal advice there is a danger of making errors of judgement in drafting the forms which can make life unintentionally difficult for your Attorneys in the future or even cause the OPG to reject it.
If you do not have a Will in place your estate will be governed by the rules of intestacy which could mean that your assets will not be passed on to people you would choose and your beneficiaries may end up paying more in Inheritance Tax.
Nobody likes the thought of making a Will but are you confident that in the absence of a Will your property and personal effects will pass to your intended beneficiaries.
There is much more to a Will than just writing it.
We provide a comprehensive service advising you in all aspects of the estate planning and drawing up a Will.
