We want to express our appreciation and thanks for the professional and friendly way in which you have handled the creation of our Wills and LPAs. We were not looking forward to doing them but your valued help made it easier than we thought. We would have no hesitation in recommending you to anyone. Mugford & Co Wills (Diss) Ltd does remain open for business during the current crisis.

We continue with home visits for face to face meetings or we can hold meetings by phone or Zoom, if preferred. Mugford & Co Wills (Diss) Ltd was incorporated in 2013 by Richard Mugford, who qualified as a solicitor in 1991 with a large City of London firm. In 1997 Richard Mugford established Mugford & Co Solicitors providing legal services to the local community.

Mugford & Co Wills (Diss) Ltd was set up to provide Wills, Powers of Attorney and related services to clients looking for a specialist, professional, personal service at a considerably lower cost than most solicitors' firms.
Services
Mugford & Co Wills (Diss) Ltd. provides a specialist, professional and personal service giving advice on Wills, Powers of Attorney and funeral plans.
Over 30 years' experience.
Our normal hours of business are Monday - Friday 9 am to 6 pm and Saturday mornings and home visits by arrangement.
To proceed please contact us by letter, email or phone and we can explain what happens next.
Funeral costs have risen from 1,230 in 1997 to over 4,000 in 2017 (figures taken from Sun Life's Cost of Dying report).
This is a worry to many people especially with savings today giving such low returns.
A funeral plan is designed to lock the cost of the funeral at the time of taking out the plan, to keep it the same for as long as you live, be that long or short.
As well as the cost of funerals, people do often choose funeral plans to ensure that their wishes are set out in advance and will be adhered to, whether cremation or burial.
If someone loses their mental capacity, through illness such as dementia or a stroke or otherwise they would need someone to look after their affairs for them.
Without a Power of Attorney, banks, building societies and utility companies would not deal with anyone else.
An LPA is a legal document to allow someone you trust to manage your affairs and act on your behalf particularly when you are unable to do so for yourself.
It should not be put off until you think you might be going to need one, as you cannot make an LPA once you have lost mental capacity and you might not know when you are starting to lose mental capacity or it might happen suddenly, such as by a stroke or a car accident.
Cost of care - currently if you have to go into a home due to frailty (including dementia) you have to pay for it if your capital exceeds 23,250.
Costs can mount up quickly if care is over a long period.
Most do not need long term care, but for 10% bills can climb beyond 100,000.
Careful planning in your Wills can make a difference, to limit what property is liable for assessment.

Generally you should review your Will every 5 to 7 years or if your circumstances have changed.
Examples of changes of circumstances are getting married or remarried, getting divorced or separated, the birth or adoption of children and coming into money, perhaps by inheriting yourself.
Some people have no close family still living.
Sometimes people wish to make a gift, sometimes large and sometimes small, to a friend, helpful neighbour, charity or local church.
Without a Will these gifts would not be made.
