Services
Established in 2002, Olephant is the brainchild of founding partner Jan Mugerwa.
With a wealth of experience acting on commercial litigation matters, Jan set about combining these skills with a business model and structure that puts the client at the heart of what we do.
We know that the litigation process can be daunting, complex and challenging.
Our aim is to give our clients the best chance of a successful outcome.
This stems from a belief that it is the relationship with our clients that matters.
Our fees are based on the time we spend dealing with your matters.
Time spent on your affairs will include meetings with you and others; any time spent travelling; considering, preparing and working on papers; correspondence; and making and receiving telephone calls.
We will also charge for all disbursements incurred including (but not limited to) counsel's and expert's fees and court and tribunal fees.
We will provide you with an estimate of our fees and expenses at the outset of your matter and as the matter progresses.
In Chambers UK it was said of founding partner Jan Mugerwa that he "demonstrates unbelievable hard work and persistence in complex litigation".
This ethos permeates through to all our team members working alongside any client, no matter what size case we take on.
For us it is simple.
We select the appropriate talent within the firm to take on the complexities of our clients' issues.
We all strive for the simplicity that so often follows complexity!
Chambers UK's independent assessment also recognised Jan as being a "pragmatic and resourceful operator".
Olephant Solicitors advises on a range of contentious and non-contentious commercial matters.
Our aim is, where possible, to assist clients to avoid the pressure and risk associated with litigation.
However, where litigation is unavoidable, we pride ourselves on assisting our clients with strategic and pragmatic advice that ultimately leads to a prompt and successful outcome, be it by way of settlement or judgment.
We have particular experience in shareholder disputes.
Cases we have had conduct of include the first case in England in which it was decided that it was permissible to bring a double derivative claim in the High Court (Re Fort Kilkicker Ltd [2013] Ch 551).
Olephant Solicitors advises on a range of contentious and non-contentious employment law matters.
On the non-contentious side, our services include providing general employment law and human resources advice, drafting and reviewing employment contracts and workplace policies, and advising on the terms and effect of settlement agreements.
Olephant utilises the expertise of a highly rated barrister who is also a part time Employment Tribunal Judge, to work on the firm's employment law cases.
With extensive and detailed knowledge of employment, discrimination and commercial law, this resource strengthens our ability to support and advise business owners and Human Resource departments dealing with employment matters.
