He went to school in Worthing and then Leeds University where he read law LLB. Hons, followed by the College of Law at Guildford for the Solicitors' Final Examinations.
He has worked in private practice in the City and in industry as International Legal Director. As well as establishing a professional practice in the field of free movement of people and associated human rights, for many years he provided weekend volunteer services at a charity for migrant domestic workers (Kalayaan), including teaching and providing advocacy support.
